In 2022 our son was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It was during one of our many stays at the Janeway that we were first introduced to the Candlelighters. In the beginning it was those little things – the snack cabinet, the diagnosis bag filled with all the things that would assist us in our new journey. But it was last summer when we were first introduced to Camp Delight. We talked about it with our son – he was going through so much and we were anxious about being away from him for a whole week. That all changed when we stepped out of our vehicle on that beautiful summer’s day at the beginning of camp and saw so many families just like us. It was overwhelming. We knew he was in the best of hands. The support that Candlelighters has provided and continue to provide for our family has been incredible. Giving back by volunteering with this amazing organization was an easy decision so that other kids and families like us can find what we found – a community that allowed our son to feel like himself again; to smile and just be a kid.
