I am a mum of two wonderful boys and a dedicated primary school teacher. My
youngest son was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2015 and received treatment in
England. While on treatment our family received so much support from
various childhood cancer charities and I always said I would find a way to
show kindness to other families in similar circumstances. We made the
family decision to leave England and move back to my home province,
Newfoundland. During our move, I made contact with a few families who were
on the same journey and from this I was introduced to Candlelighters. Since
our return home we have attended Candlelighter events and the sense of
being a family and being there to listen to others, is very evident. I feel
honored to be a board director and look forward to supporting other
families who have faced childhood cancer because “kids can’t fight cancer alone.”
