Spin for Camp Delight
Spin for Camp Delight is an annual fundraising event dedicated to raising money in support of Camp Delight. It is a fun and meaningful way to engage the community and raise money for children and families along their cancer journey.
In 2020, with COVID-19 protocols in place, we decided to put a more 'positive spin' on staying at home. We decided to do our Spin for Camp Delight - but we went virtual!
This year Candlelighters NL is challenging you to join us and 'Take a Spin Across Newfoundland and Labrador!' There are two ways you can get involved:
- Schools that Support Spin for Camp Delight
This is our first year reaching out to the schools of our province to participate in our Spin! Thank you to the schools that have already reached out - we look forward to having you on board! For more information on how you can get your school involved, please click HERE
- Spin for Camp Delight
We are excited to have our families and supporters taking part in our challenge this year! Thank you to Triple C Carwash for your support again this year! For more information on how you can get involved and register your own team for this event, please click HERE.

'Cross da Bay! in Support of Candlelighters NL
Scott Doyle has decided to take on an adventure to raise money for Candlelighters NL, and he plans to make this an annual event!
Scott will be kayaking across the bay from Kelligrews to Port de Grave (17 Kms). His original goal was to raise $5000 by the end of May - but with all of your support he has increased his fundraising goal to $10,000! He is doing this for Candlelighters NL...Because kids can't fight cancer alone! We hope you will join him in raising much needed funds for our organization! Let the adventure begin!
Scott's fundraising page will remain open until the end of June. To make a donation to this wonderful adventure, please click HERE.

Night of Delight
Ches’s Famous Fish & Chips hosts an annual Night of Delight fundraiser in aid of Candlelighters Newfoundland and Labrador. The event includes a silent and live auction, dinner, and dance with live entertainment. It’s an evening full of excitement and generous support for the programs provided to oncology families by the Candlelighters Association. In a year without COVID-19 we would be asking for your support through the donation of auction items for silent or live auctions. There are a lot of talented people here in Newfoundland and Labrador (Music, Arts, Photography, Crafts, Independent business owners, etc.).
As we were unable to gather together safely for our annual Ches's Night of Delight this year due to COVID-19, we decided to have our very own 50/50 draw! Congratulations to Teena & Ric Rumbolt with the winning ticket and a prize of $8,912.50!
We look forward to when we can all be together again, but we can still raise funds for Camp Delight if we're all in this together.
Your support matters...Because kids can't fight cancer alone!
Go Gold – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Every year approximately 1500 Canadian children are diagnosed with cancer and approximately 25 of these new Canadian diagnoses are children living in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the leading cause of non-accidental death in children.
During September we advocate for awareness of childhood cancer by reaching out to municipalities across the province to sign a proclamation in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We also participate in 'Go Gold' lighting ceremonies including a lighting at the Confederation Building where the building is lit in gold for childhood cancer awareness. We encourage municipalities to participate in ‘Go Gold’ light ceremonies.
Family Christmas Parties
Each year we host a Christmas party in St. John’s for oncology families to come and enjoy the holiday season together! Every party includes entertainment (such as ornament painting, cookie decorating, magic show, live music, etc.), an assortment of food, and a visit from Santa with a gift for each child!
We also host family Christmas parties in other areas in the province, which may vary year to year.
